My Inspiration for Becoming an Animator

Description YT

In this video, I share how the iconic Transformers G1 series ignited my passion for art and inspired me to become an artist. As a long-time fan, I've always admired the animation and storytelling in Transformers G1. The visuals and character designs have had a significant impact on my own creative work, pushing me to explore new techniques and styles.

In this video, I recall my early years of wanting the Transformers G1 toys and watching the cartoon, discussing some of the family environment that influenced my own art journey. I also showcase some of my original Transformers childhood art and recent art and animations.

As a dedicated Transformers cartoon analyst, I love dissecting the nuances of the series and sharing my findings with fellow fans. So, if you're a Transformers enthusiast, an animation lover, or simply curious about the creative process, I hope you enjoy this video.

What is your inspiration?
My inspiration is G1.   📍 As a kid watching it with my brothers.
  📍 Buying the toys,
drawing the toys that I couldn't buy   📍 or that my mom wouldn't buy me. It's an interesting thing cuz like
📍 my mom's like, you don't need that many toys.
And it's like,   📍 yes I need those toys. And so in order to get that satisfaction of having the toys   📍 I drew like a maniac. I would just like draw to like will them into existence. So joke's on you, mom you made me more addicted than you will never know.   📍 It sounds like a Star Wars line. But it's true.   📍 If she had just bought me the toys,
I would've gotten the toys, gotten bored-
📍 So how did I get into art? Art with my brothers
📍 sort of like a family art competition.   📍 So I drew a lot trying to get approval from my brothers. It made me wanna work harder.
📍 My parents didn't really support my art but   📍 that also fueled me cuz it's like, well   📍 I'll show you how good I can become.
Just a lot of   📍 I'll prove you wrong feelings, which is I think good. A lot of people thrive on that.   📍 No knock on my parents. They did everything that they had to do to support me and   📍 📍 get me through college. They did a fantastic job by all accounts
📍 except for support of art
and it's why I went to   📍 business school
instead of art school. That's not a knock on business school. Art school doesn't guarantee you an art job.   📍 The thought was, just go into business school, get a
business job and do art on the side.
📍 So again no negatives on anybody I'm way past resentment or anything.
📍 Just the hard truth, right? And a   📍 parent that supports you isn't necessarily the best thing for you either. Like if I   📍 📍 had gotten all the Transformers when I was a kid, I wouldn't have liked Transformers as much.
📍 It's like I ended up drawing so much that I got better at art so I think it's a really good trade off cuz I can go on   📍 eBay and buy the G1 toys that I want right now. So instead of having that as a child
  📍 I can draw. I think that's a fantastic trade off.
📍 The social media landscape is changing really fast and before you could just   📍 📍 post still pictures on   📍 Instagram, you'd be fine.   📍 Now it's gotta be   📍 📍 video. TikTok video,   📍 YouTube video. In order for me to even have a place on the internet   📍 I have to animate. If you drew 30 pictures on Instagram versus a one second animation the legacy of a one second animation is bigger than 30 pictures.
📍 I'm not trained as an artist. I'm not trained as an animator.
📍 I'm just this guy trying to get recognition my whole life and I think that fuels me. I couldn't get into Harvard and use my grades to push things along. It was always like, I gotta do it by myself. No training, just brute force.
