In this video, I address a frequently requested topic: animating the death of Red Alert from Transformers: The Movie. Many fans believe this deleted scene should be restored to honor the original storyboards or to highlight Red Alert’s "heroic" sacrifice. But I strongly disagree.

I don’t view the storyboards as officially sealed and approved, nor do I think Red Alert’s death deserves to be called heroic. He was shot in the back and abandoned by his fellow Autobots, which is completely out of character for the team. This scene not only disrespects Red Alert but also casts Sideswipe, Tracks, and Ultra Magnus (the “Rocket Boys”) in a shameful light.

Some argue the film teaches kids about war and death. But Transformers is not a war documentary, it’s a cartoon. If you want a serious meditation on the horrors of combat, watch Saving Private Ryan, not a kids show about colorful robots who up to this point, couldnt ever kill each other.

My mission remains the same: to preserve what makes the Autobots heroic and lovable. I am not joining in with the Hasbro of 1986 who wanted to reinvent the line every two years, past characters be damned.
