Ultra Magnus and his troops are defending against the Constructicons, when Megatron arrives, in this new scene created for Transformers the Movie.

Let me go through how I created this scene.

First, I grabbed the "I'll crush you with my bare hands!" frames and then I put them in reverse order.

I then had to redraw each frame digitally, because I didn't want Megatron's hand to touch his cannon. I then drew the fusion cannon blast effects and recoil frame.

For the background, I first isolated the background from the shot to create a clean plate. Then I had to create the effect that he is facing the other way. I did this by adding an extra layer of orange wall (the one that Devastator broke through).

After laying in the edited background, I then colored Megatron while taking into account that he is half in shadow now, with the light source behind him, as opposed to before, when the light source was in front of him.

And that's how I created this scene!

Some of you may recall this storyboarded scene of Megatron walking out of the smoke. I've decided to cut this scene for now because I feel slows down the pacing too much. The irony right? I started this project to reduce deleted storyboards and I've now got some deleted storyboards of my own!

Speaking of irony, I implore everyone to learn how to use the word irony correctly. Irony should not be confused with mere coincidence. When used correctly, irony is often used to express a contrast between what is expected and what actually happens. In my case, I expected to reduce the number of deleted storyboards, but I actually added one deleted storyboard.

But anway, you know I just want to mention that even though I'm the animator, it's you all who bring the Transformers world to life through your imagination and excitement. Your support inspires me to create more animations. Your appreciation for the art of animation drives me to push my limits despite my lack of time, youth and health. You inspire me to continue to tell stories and bring these mechanical giants to life in a way that resonates with you.
