This new animation bridges 2 important scenes in the movie.

You may be thinking that this Devastator rip through wall scene has been misplaced. But this scene was actually moved in the final cut of Transformers the Movie. This is supposed to happen after Optimus Prime lands.

So if the Devastator rip through wall scene was moved, as we stated earlier, then what was originally going to be in the place of the the Devastator rip through wall scene? It was going to be a shot of Wheeljack, Blaster and a few other Autobots facing off with Megatron.

In the original scenes in the movie, we don't get to see how Prime loses his gun. And that's why I think it's important to show that Optimus Prime gets tackled by Blitzwing and loses his gun before he meets Megatron.
